Goal fit

In Allocate, a month-by-month check that each goal can be funded from take-home pay after bills and the goals ahead of it, with a one-tap fix if not.

Goal fit is how Allocate answers whether a goal is realistic on the schedule you gave it. Every goal has an order in your plan, a monthly amount, and a landing date. Goal fit runs each month forward: take-home pay, minus bills, minus the contributions to every goal ranked above this one, and checks whether what is left covers this goal's monthly amount. It does this for every month until the landing date, because a goal that fits in June might not fit in December when the car insurance is due.

When a goal fits, it shows a green line through its landing date. When it does not, Allocate says which month fails and by how much, and offers a fit: push the landing date out, lower the monthly amount, reorder it against another goal, or match an expected income event to it. Accepting the fit is one tap; the plan updates and the goal stops warning.

Example: a $9,000 vacation goal for next August, $750 a month, sits third in the plan after the emergency fund and a car goal. In March, take-home is $5,800, bills are $3,900, and the two goals ahead take $1,400. That leaves $500, and the vacation goal is $250 short for March. Allocate flags it and suggests either a $250 shift from the car goal that month or matching the March bonus to cover the gap.

The common mistake it prevents is a plan that looks fine as a total and fails in a specific month. Goal fit checks the months, not the average.
